As part of Student Action with Farmworkers week of Farmworker Awareness, members of the CIW (Coalition of Immokolee Workers) come to Durham, NC to talk about conditions in the fields in Immokolee, FL. The CIW is calling for Burger King to be accountable for the conditions of the farmworkers who pick their tomatoes and sign a contract to pay the farmworkers 1 penny more per pound. Taco Bell and McDonalds have already signed similar agreements with CIW, but Burger King refuses to do their part to address the human rights violations and degrading conditions for farmworkers in Immokolee who are demanding justice in the fields.
